The Chorale continues our mission during the pandemic
Your contributions will be matched up to a total of $5,000
Dear Friend of the Outer Cape Chorale,
We are writing to you this year from a very different perspective. For the last several years, the Chorale has been steadily building – the quality of our vocal technique, the depth of our repertoire, the breadth of our audiences, and our connections with the community.
We are sure you’ll remember our 2019 successes – the thrilling “Opera meets Broadway” concert in May, the delightful Chamber Singers summer series “Moon and Stars”, and the rousing “Magnificent Magnificats” in December with excerpts from Messiah. As 2020 began, we were working hard on an exciting new concert season.
Sadly, along with every other performing arts organization, the pandemic brought our efforts to a hard stop. On March 10th, recognizing the emerging risks associated with COVID-19, the Chorale suspended rehearsals and cancelled our May concerts. Looking back, we feel so fortunate to have made this timely decision – outbreaks linked to choral groups were soon making the news. The safety of our singers and audiences were, and always are, paramount.
We have adapted and continue our mission of bringing joyous choral music to the Outer Cape. In the spring, we launched the OCC Academy on Zoom, a 5-week instructional series for our singers, with lessons on vocal technique, sight reading, and music theory. The Chamber Singers shifted to Zoom as well, continuing to rehearse and train in a new and unfamiliar way.
In late summer, we began publishing our monthly “Choral Treasures” e-newsletter, highlighting memorable choral performances and spotlighting our singers and sponsors. This fall, we began holding monthly remote activities for our singers featuring both learning and fun. And we are keeping hope alive for a return to the stage later in 2021.
We hope you will continue to support us during our annual fundraising campaign this year. Your contributions will allow us to continue our interim remote programming and help us to prepare for our eventual return to the concert stage. Contributions large and small are gratefully welcomed.
There are two ways to make your contribution:
– using a credit/debit card on the Donate page, here on our website
– sending a check to OCC, PO Box 474, South Wellfleet, MA 02663
And now, thanks to an amazing and generous angel donor, all contributions received as part of this campaign will be matched up to a total of $5,000! Your contributions will make an even greater impact this year!
On behalf of all members of the Outer Cape Chorale, we so greatly miss performing for you! Choral music is a compelling and joyous experience for both singers and audiences. We look forward to the time when we can sing for you again, with safety and our customary joy.
