Paris!
Over 30 singers from OCC perform in Gala Concert,
“The Music of Elaine Hagenberg”
As followers of OCC will remember, the Outer Cape Chorale performed Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare in our May 2025 concert, “Into the Light”. Chorus members were excited to sing this impressive, beautiful piece and our audiences were similarly enchanted, rating it as one of the Chorale’s best performances.
Soon after, composer Elaine Hagenberg wrote to OCC’s Artistic Director, Allison Beavan, to invite singers from OCC to participate in an international choral event in Paris, France in 2026. Allison soon found that there was significant excitement among chorus members for this unique opportunity.
Fast forward! In June, 32 singers from the Outer Cape Chorale travelled to Paris to participate in “The Music of Elaine Hagenberg”, an unforgettable choral festival bringing together members from sixteen choruses from around the world for an extraordinary musical experience.
For four days beginning on Saturday June 20th through Tuesday June 23rd, the event combined focused and intense rehearsals with Paris sightseeing, culminating in a gala concert on Tuesday evening at the stunning Eglise Saint-Sulpice with a professional orchestra.
While some singers added some travel before or after the event, everyone is home now with treasured memories of an uplifting and wonderful musical experience!
(All participants were self-financed – no funds from the Outer Cape Chorale were used for this trip.)
